Hardware for CODA Systems
Codamotion 3D Measurement Instruments
Codamotion cx1
The Codamotion cx1 unit, known as a CODA, is the gold standard for real-time 3D movement measurement. better still, it only weighs 5kg, so it's portable.
Each cx1 unit makes its own 3D measurement without reference to other cameras or units and multiple units can be combined to give increased volume. But here's the best news of all: because each cx1 makes independent 3D measurements, there's no need for calibration by the user... ever! Each cx1 comes factory calibrated.

Codamotion Markers and Marker Drive Boxes
Latest Additions
Four Marker Drive Box |
|
Codamotion's 4-marker drive box is half the size of a matchbox and lighter than a silver dollar. The new drive box allows you to power a set of active markers (see 'Standard Markers' below) on a body segment without adding a mass of more than 22 grams. Each drive box has the capacity to power up to 4 active markers, is chargeable and programmable via a USB socket and is fully compatible both with existing 2- and 8-marker drive boxes and with the recently introduced range of marker clusters |
Codamotion Clusters |
|
Pioneered in-house to eliminate the need for wires to active markers the sophisticated 4-marker rigid cluster is both straightforward and quick to attach and remove from different limb contours. For use in real-time with C-Motion's Visual 3D or with your own analysis algorithms the Codamotion Cluster is an elegant addition to our active marker family of products. |
Gait Wand SetWand Sets for Gait Analysis are also available now. Wand sets allow precise calculation of 3D segmental angles according to an accepted clinical protocol. They have their own webpage- click here to view. |

Standard Products

Standard MarkerThe standard active marker for use with the cx1 system can be powered by any of the marker drive boxes in the standard range. Each marker is given a unique identity by the drive box it is connected to.
|

2-Marker DriveBoxContains battery and optical synchronisation for up to two markers. Markers are time-multiplexed by these boxes so that every marker has a unique identity. Boxes are usually placed mid-segment so that no marker wires should ever cross joints. Boxes are self-powered and fully independent. No wires to any base station are needed. |

8-Marker DriveBoxContains battery and optical synchronisation to for up to eight markers. Markers are time-multiplexed by these boxes so that every marker has a unique identity. Boxes are usually placed mid-segment so that no marker wires should ever cross joints. Boxes are self-powered and fully independent. No wires to any base station are needed. A modified version without internal battery is available for use with external power supplies. |

8-Marker DriveBox with External StrobeContains synchronisation circuit to for up to eight markers. This is a modified 8-Marker Drive Box which has an external strobe input for synchronisation as an alternative to the usual optical sync. Must be used in combination with wired strobe adapter and extension cable. |
Codamotion Hubs
![]() |
Mini HubA MiniHub is a passive unit which provides power and data connections for one or two cx1 units. A control/data connection is made between the MiniHub and host computer. This allows units to run from laptop or standard desktop PC. Can be fitted with External Strobe Panel to provide sync signal for external devices. |

Active Hub with Quad UARTA rack-mountable industrial computer unit. Quad UART gives combined power and data connections for cx1 units, plus sync input/output connectivity. The cx1 power/data connections are expandable in groups of four. The sync input connection can be used to control the timing of Codamotion acquisition using external devices, whilst sync output can be used to trigger external devices to run synchronously with the Codamotion system. Optional analogue and digital interfaces allow synchronous acquisition of data from other devices, and real-time triggering. |

32-Channel A:D and Filter board for Active HubThese boards are placed inside the Active Hub to add hardware support for external analogue devices and/or digital triggering. Each analogue board provides 32 single-ended analogue input channels, 8 digital output channels and 8 digital input channels. The filter board provides anti-aliasing filters for 32 analogue inputs. A second set of boards can be added to give 64 channels of analogue and 16 digital inputs and outputs. |
High Speed Data / Combo Cable
This single cable is the only connection required between a cx1 and Hub. It provides high-bandwidth real-time transmission of measurement data, whilst also providing the required DC power.
RS422 Data Cable
Required for use with Mini Hub. A 5mm diameter cable which provides the high-speed serial RS422 control/data connection between MiniHub and the host computer (PC). Requires an RS422 serial (COM port) interface card in the host PC. Operates at a data rate of up to 5M-baud.
